The German Insurance Association (GDV) is the umbrella organisation of insurers in Germany. We represent the interests of an exciting, efficient and diverse industry vis-à-vis parliament, government and the public – at national, EU and international levels.  
 
For our EU and International Department, we are looking for an ambitious (Senior) Policy Advisor based in Brussels, Belgium. As part of the EU and International Affairs team of GDV, the (Senior) Policy Advisor will be an essential part of our team representing the interests of our members towards EU and international institutions, supervisors and other stakeholders. In close cooperation with colleagues in Brussels and Berlin, the (Senior) Policy Advisor will contribute to GDV’s public affairs engagement at national, EU and international level. 
 
The (Senior) Policy Advisor will join a motivated and enthusiastic team in Brussels. The role reports to the Head of EU and International Affairs.

What you can look forward to

  • Monitor and analyze political and regulatory developments affecting the insurance industry
  • Conduct research and draft briefing notes, reports, and engagement materials
  • Collaborate with policy colleagues and liaise with political stakeholders to advance GDV’s objectives
  • Provide internal reports on EU political and regulatory discussions, with a focus on the German insurance market
  • Support lobbying activities and contribute to policy development
  • Strengthen and maintain stakeholder relationships
  • Prepare internal and external updates, newsletters, and monitoring reports

Your Skillset 

Essential
  • Minimum 3 years experience in advocacy, public affairs, or a related field
  • University degree or equivalent practical experience in law, economics, politics, or similar
  • Strong knowledge of EU political processes, including strategic and regulatory aspects
  • Interest in regulatory and strategic issues affecting the insurance industry
  • Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
    Proactive, organized, and able to work independently in a small team
  • Fluent in English
Desirable
  • Project management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Fluent written and spoken German skills
